CLIENT: ReachOut Australia

CREATIVE TEAM: Bridget Murray and Rhys Keir

CONTENT CREATED: Remote Video Content

THE GOAL:

It was the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and there was an enormous amount of fear, uncertainty and anxiety circulating amongst communities around Australia. As the most accessed online mental health service for young people and their parents in Australia, our client, ReachOut Australia, wanted to cut through the noise of COVID content online.

Their trusted self-help information, peer-support program and referral tools save lives by helping young people be well and stay well, so naturally, they wanted find a way to help young people feel connected during lockdown with a suite of engaging, informative content.

THE DELIVERABLES:

THE PROJECT:

This project posed some unique challenges, as it required Flex Mami chatting directly to camera, accompanied by visual examples and graphics of interesting ways to remain connected, all during the Covid lockdown.

The tone and style of the video content was extremely specific and tailored to a meme-culture audience - it needed to be highly engaging, impactful and sharable. Remote-style filming was very new concept and required our client to take a leap of faith with us as we navigated the process and developed a strategy for achieving what they wanted in the extreme circumstances.

We worked with ReachOut to create a clear concept which could be handed over to Flex Mami for production. We delivered an outline of specifics that we required for the filming of the content, to ensure that Flex Mami would be able to deliver footage that could be edited and crafted into the specific content required by ReachOut.

This concept was further developed in Post-Production with our Head of Production working closely with our ReachOut client to finesse a proof-of-concept before finalising the suite of content. The biggest takeaways: anything is possible when it comes to content creation, even during a global pandemic and lockdown; and more is definitely more when it comes to creating this style of content for a younger audience!

THE OUTCOME:

Overall, the suite of content created for ReachOut was highly engaging and had successful impact with their online audience, creating a sense of social connectedness during a very isolating time. It gained thousands of views across the platforms, but the biggest surprise was that it performed better on YouTube than on Instagram, with a very high percentage watch-rate of 62.8% on Youtube!

ReachOut also received highly positive feedback on the content from their user review groups and wider staff.

Our client’s biggest concerns were remote-filming and creating an entirely new visual and on-screen graphic style. Their overall feedback however was that it was a “great process. Really clear, with both stakeholders trying something new. They put their trust in [Keyy Productions] and [we] delivered]."
